3 Foods That Ruin Your Menstrual Health

Menstruation is a natural process that occurs in the female reproductive system every month. It involves the shedding of the lining of the uterus, with the intention of helping the female body detox and replenish itself.
The primary purpose of menstruation is to prepare the female body for pregnancy. During each menstrual cycle, the uterus creates a lining of blood, nutrients, and tissue to support a fertilized egg. If the egg is fertilized, it implants in the uterine lining and develops into a fetus. If the egg is not fertilized, the uterus sheds the lining, which is expelled through the vagina in the form of menstrual blood.
This process prepares the uterus for a new cycle, allowing for the possibility of another fertilized egg to be implanted in the uterine lining in the next cycle. Additionally, menstruation helps to rid the body of excess iron and other toxins, promoting overall health and well-being.
When the hormonal balance is disturbed this can result in excess bleeding, discomfort, and pain. While most women experience mild to moderate menstrual symptoms, some may experience heavy menstrual bleeding, also known as menorrhagia. Heavy menstrual bleeding can have a significant impact on a woman's quality of life, leading to fatigue, anemia, and restricted daily activities.

If you notice that your period is abnormal, whether heavy, extremely painful, absent or long, there’s a great possibility that you can benefit from eliminating some of the following foods from your diet.

​1. Cheese and Dairy Products

Cheese and dairy products can cause excess inflammation to build up in the body. This excess information can influence the heaviness of your flow, pain and also fuel reproductive illness.

2. Candy
Even low-fat candy needs to be eliminated or extremely restricted. Sugar in general fuels
inflammation and adds to insulin dysfunction.
Processed sugars and candy can negatively impact your hormonal health and cause dysfunction during your cycle and otherwise.

3. Meats with Artificial Growth Hormones
It is no secret that meats that contain artificial hormones can impact your menstrual health. Most industries say they do not use hormones in their meat, however it is best to buy your meat from halal markets or a farm near you. Anything with artificial hormones has the ability to disturb your body’s homeostasis.
